Camp Video Since 2000, The Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Family Camp has been making a difference in the lives of children and their families. Each year our camp is held over Memorial Day weekend at a YMCA facility in Julian. In 2013 we were honored to become California Hands and Voices DHH Family Camp. (DHH Family Camp)

California Hands & Voices is dedicated to supporting families with children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing without bias regarding communication modes or methodology. We’re a parent-driven, non-profit organization providing families with the resources, networks, and information to improve communication access and educational outcomes for their children. Our outreach activities (including DHH Family camp), parent/professional collaboration, and advocacy efforts are focused on enabling children who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing to reach their highest potential.

At DHH Family camp parents are respectful and non-judgmental. Each family has the unique opportunity to learn from and be supported by families who have children of all ages and who use a wide range of communication opportunities within their family. Parents attend educational seminars that focus on the family; including sibling and family bond and a variety of complex issues related to raising DHH children.

This event has become an anchor for many families who have come to value the opportunity to renew and create lasting friendships.

We hope that you will join us at camp this year!

A limited number of partial scholarships are available to those in need.

The deadline for requesting a scholarship is April 15th.  To apply, complete the online application and check the "Yes, my family needs to be considered for a scholarship to be able to attend camp" box on the form.  Your credit card will not be billed until an agreed-upon rate has been established.

For more information contact Kristal Molina at (858) 717-2242 or camp@cahandsandvoices.org.

While parents attend workshops, the children will participate in groups supervised by well-trained volunteers. Many of the counselors have a hearing loss and serve as terrific role models. The children will enjoy arts & crafts, hiking, sports, and games with other deaf, hearing and hard-of-hearing campers. Children 1 and under remain with their parents.

Family camp is held at Camp Marston, a 230 acre mountain retreat in the San Diego County mountains. Each of the lodges has four bedrooms which sleep up to six people each (in some cases two families will be housed in the same room).  There is a nice sized community room complete with couches, tables and a wood-stove.  Each lodge has a men's and women's bathroom & showers just down the hall, complete with all the modern conveniences.

The grass sports area provides a wonderful setting for our outdoor activities and nearby trails and forests invite families to enjoy the picturesque hills of Julian. Parent meetings are held in the Holmes Lodge, a spacious meeting room that can easily accommodate our growing group.

In order to maintain the respectful integrity of our events, we unfortunately also reserve the right to deny access to participants with or without cause upon the vote of at least two-thirds of the supervising committee for the event in question.  This includes camp registration for campers, families, volunteers and staff, and participation at any CA-H&V event. We apologize for having to reserve this option, but we hope and expect it won't be needed.
